It’s Tough Out There

Making an impression, getting your word out, finding and engaging prospects, gets tougher every day. It seems that there are fewer and fewer outlets and each forum gets noisier and more crowded.
Which gives you 2 choices – give up or play the game just a little bit better than everyone else.
If it’s the former, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere.
Assuming the latter, one of the endeavors you should seriously consider is blogging, for two very important reasons.
1. Writing forces you to go beyond first level thinking. The bullshit meter is on high. Your message becomes crisper and more compelling.
2. It gets the word out – your word, your point of view, what makes you different. It gives people reason to know your name, to follow you and perhaps to engage.
But here’s the rub. You’ve got to take it seriously. You’ve got to publish consistently for this to “take hold”, for you to get traction. Which is where you might consider hiring a professional to do the dirty work and make you look wonderful.
It’s not the be-all and end-all to marketing yourself, but it works.
