I Can Do It Myself

If you’re a parent or spend any time around kids you might hear a common refrain, “I can do it myself.” The phrase either evokes a feeling of glee (I’m glad I don’t have to get down on the floor and help them find their shoes) or abject dismay (I know this is going to take much longer than I wanted).

In either case, there is little you can do about it, especially with kids that are strong-willed and determined and in many cases, you just simply hold off until they ask you for some assistance.

This is somewhat the case with writing blogs and newsletters. When we approached many of our current clients they told us they could do the writing themselves and left little room for further discussion. Rather than be discouraged Scott and I (parents ourselves) decided to “wait and see” and within months, and in a few cases, weeks, some of these selfsame people that wanted to do it by themselves came to a different decision and realized that outsourcing the content development was truly the better way to go.

Here’s why:

They didn’t have the time to write content on any sort of consistent basis. They posted a few blogs and then weeks went by before another posting. They send out one or two newsletters and that was it. Knowing consistency is an integral part of the endeavor, they turned to us.

They were stressed about doing the writing and would spend endless hours at the keyboard only to discard their work after rereading it. This isn’t to say that the writing was poor but the dismay involved in doing the writing caused emotional and mental upheaval and who wants to go through that on a fairly frequent basis.

Subject matter experts notwithstanding, many of our clients just don’t have the necessary skills to create their own content. They have prosperous and growing companies and deliver quality products and services. What they can’t do is write quality content.

These are just a few situations in which outsourcing content makes perfect sense and to that end, we’d love the opportunity to speak with you about your business and how we can create the perfect verbiage to meet your needs.

Don’t let inertia get the better of you. Reach out now.
